What we've been up to

Thursday, December 25, 2008

We went to Utah as a family for Thanksgiving then I decided to stay while Nate went back home to New Mexico to finish the semester. I stayed at Nate's parent's house for about 2 weeks and then at my Mom's house for a little over a week. Thank you everyone who helped us while we were in Utah. I made it home to Albuquerque and my mom made it back to Utah before a big storm hit. Then we had a quiet Christmas with our small little family. We will be headed back to Utah in a few more days for Kayli's baptism and more lame doctor appointments.

I rememberd to bring home my carmera but not my charger so I have pics of my trip to Utah but not of Christmas in New Mexico. I just bought a cheap clicker camera and have to use up all of the pics before I can develop them. (remember when you had to develop you pictures; how lame is that)

This is a pic of Nate's mom's tree that she got at festivel of trees. I wasn't feeling well enough to go so they brought a tree home to cheer me up. (that and they really liked the tree)
We enjoyed the playing with snow. Yesterday Eva was crying because there was no snow in New Mexico and Christmas is supposed to have snow.
Grandpa Woolf got Eva a gingerbread house kit. It was so easy; that is the way to go. All the fun with half the work. Eva enjoyed it a lot.

Eva and Emmie love playing in the crib together but Emmie just learned how to climb out so we are taking it down today and will be putting in a toddler bed. No more monkeys jumbing on the bed. :(

Emmie loves to dances she will come up and grab your hands and say "I know you I know you" (the song from Sleeping Beauty when she dances with the prince)

Merry Christmas!

The day Nate gave birth

Friday, December 12, 2008

You may have read in the news about the man that gave birth to a baby, and then you read that man actually was a woman, but was trying to be a man and was married to a woman. Then you probably lost interest like I did.

Let me tell you a story of how a real man gives birth. On Monday afternoon I was on may way to work and I started to have a bit of a stomach ache. I got in my car and drove for a couple of blocks and it started to really hurt. A couple of blocks more and I thought for sure I was dying. I called my work and turned around and went to the hospital. After I was comfortably naked on a gurney with some IV morphine and had a CAT scan I got the wonderful news. "You are going to give birth to a 1 mm kidney stone" I was told. So I was given a filter and some pain meds and told to strain my pee until I caught the little bundle of joy. I gave them the 'you want me to what' look, and got home at about 12:30 am. About 3 liters of water later little Diablo was born. I thought what many new parent thinks, "how can something that small cause so much pain". Anyway baby and daddy are fine now.

By the way, if anyone is in need of a gently used strainer, I've got one lying around. I can send pictures. Paypal only please.
